Relationships are dialogue and action. We seem to be more aware of the action part then we are of the dialogue part. Of course not keeping promises is a problem as is failing to keep our end of a bargain. But the words we choose and how we say things to each other matters just as much. Often, it is what we say to each other that kills intimacy rather then what we are doing. Read the rest of this entry
It is not surprising, but interesting to know that there is a word for this. I can’t say that intellect is the sole deciding factor for my attraction to someone, but it is the primary one. But if your smart but have no compassion, no interest there. I have always found it important to be able to talk to someone about nothing and Read the rest of this entry
I read this blog post on Fear quite a while ago and am just now getting around to writing a response to it.
The thing about fear is that it is a double edged sword. People forget that it is an important and useful emotion that keeps us from jumping from a cliff or putting are hands in the fire. Fear reminds us that we are mortal and that we need to have both caution and reserve in life. But if we listen to nothing but our Read the rest of this entry
I love this. It is beautiful and captures the way that our hearts never forget. Relationships do not always work out, but they mark us. They leave us memories. Sometimes those are sad and sometimes they are happy. There is this strange expectation in our culture that once a relationship has ended you can’t miss the good things that relationship had. Why is that? People break up and suddenly the other person becomes a villain and there is nothing good about them. I don’t believe Read the rest of this entry
When you look at me,
close your eyes.
Touch me from across the room.

Never ignore a person who loves you, cares for you, and misses you. Because one day, you might wake up from your sleep and realize that you lost the moon while counting the stars.
When Eric and I first started dating, it seemed like I could do nothing right. I just made one mistake right after the other. I was sure that I was going to demolish the relationship before it really began. But there was something about him that made me want to keep trying. And you know what? He still has that something. I knew that things would be alright in a sudden moment of relief. I finally decided to sit down and pour out my soul; confess my sins. And he stayed. He just smiled and gave me a hug. With that acceptance of who I am, I knew we'd make it; that we'd be alright within the future to come. And well, 14 years later, he's still here. I'm so blessed to have him in my life!
Mike, you have always held a special place in my heart and always will. I wish you happiness in the years to come with Jeannette. What advice can I give to you? What wisdom can I impart to help you towards happiness?
This is a time of new beginnings. A time that promises are made and families come together to celebrate.
And know happiness. Read the rest of this entry
