Getting Control

So, you’ve been diagnosed with a mental illness. Now what? There are things that you can do to help find balance in your life (regardless of the diagnosis or even if you don’t have one).

While this list is going to be simple, it is important to remember that they are things that are hard to implement. Life style changes are hard and take time to master. You are more likely to be successful if Read the rest of this entry

Tired today for no apparent reason. I don’t feel unwell. I just feel like I haven’t slept forever. But my sleep has been fine.

Dragon had a game today. It’s not hockey season yet. But they play all summer. So it is one of those just for fun practice games. Next week the kid has hockey camp. That’s over at Thomas college. She’ll be there 4 days. Not sure why it is shorter this year. It was a good day for them to play. Cool with a breeze. I wished I’d worn a hoodie though. Glad it didn’t rain. With the sky looking like it did, I was worried it would. Read the rest of this entry

Gardening Experience

I’ve been growing a garden for years. Since I was around 10 or so. My parents had a garden and I was raised with the home grown goodness. So, I keep the garden thing going. The big garden is still at my Mom’s house. We work together on it and get more from it for everyone. Not to mention its easier. I’ve also started a raised garden bed here at the apartment that we have been growing herbs in. Had pretty good luck with last year.

I’m also going to suggest that you read the internal links in the article and float around the internet on the topic before you really get into the following blog I am writing. The reason that I suggest this is that is what I’ve personally done before arriving at my conclusion and my blog is going to be VERY opinionated and thus very biased. Read the rest of this entry

Thanksgiving Leftovers

Turkey left overs are best when they are made into turkey soup! You cook the left over turkey down, toss in some spices, make some home made noodles and OMG a little heaven.

Piggie Update 080310

I’ve been having trouble with my sleep again over the last few days. And I’m still struggling with the screaming and mood swings. I just feel so tired all the time and I hate feeling that way. It takes me forever to get motivated to do anything. At least I seem better able to focus my thoughts and attention. I think that is why I’ve been able to work on my writing again. I have an appointment with Jim tomorrow. Read the rest of this entry

My Favorite Comfort Food

Ruffles potatoe chips with ranch dip. And not that crappy premade dip. I like the kind that you make with the powder and sour cream. This combo is the ultimate snacking goodness. Its crunchy and salty and all kinds of ranch goodness.  And only the real ruffles will do. They are far superior in texture to any other chip.

I spent most of the day yesterday working on getting the garden set up. I would have liked to have gotten more done, but we ran out of steam. Doesn’t help that both my mom and I had worked the previous night. That’s the seriously crappy part about working nights. If I’m going to get anything done on my days off, I’m going to have to be awake during the Read the rest of this entry
