To those of you who have thought about committing suicide or those of you who have attempted suicide: I am glad you are still here. To those of you who have a loved one struggling with depression and thoughts of suicide: rally around your loved one and do everything you can to get them the help they need. Isolation is a major factor in suicide, being there for someone does matter.
I wrote a post a while back titled Rainbow Retards. I’ve gotten quite a bit of interesting attention regarding this post, most of which has been by of way private messages. I’m out of state. We’re here to visit with Monkey’s family. Got in yesterday. I was super tired. Laid down and passed right out. Monkey’s sister graduates today and we’re here to see that 🙂 Not sure when this party gets started. Monkey and Dragon are still sleeping. I slept solid which is why I’m up and full of energy. I went and read this lovely post written by Neurodivergent Rebel: What is Neurodiversity? Does it Exclude People with Severe Disabilities?. It got me thinking about the topic. I wrote a long response to this and now I think that a post is in order.
Let’s start with me directing you to read this post by Nick Walker: Neurodiversity Some Basic Terms and Definitions. He offers an excellent explanation of the terminology that makes this (and other) discussions easier. I personally will be using the terminology in the manner outlined in his post. So, WP has informed me that I’ve been clacking away here for 7 years. Weird. In some ways, seems like I’ve been here forever. In others, it seems like I just got here. Life is so funny like that.
