by Daniel Quinn
I love this book. It is a philosophy book that is easy to read. Any book that I can read in one day is smoothly written. It is impressive the way that Quinn can present such deep and thought provoking ideas while maintaining that easy pace. It takes a close look at our culture and the way that we have chosen to approach our lives. Quinn never directly states what it is that we are missing in our culture, but makes it clear that there is something missing. I think it is possible that we don’t really know what it is we are missing. I found the discussion of our intelligence to be the most thought provoking. This is heralded as a greatest strength, yet it has led us to such dark places. I like that there are no conclusions drawn and no advice given. There are only observations and questions. I plan to read this one again.
