This is one of the few books that I watched the movie before I read the book. I enjoyed the experience of both for different reasons. The novel was able to delve more into the mind of the main character. But the movie was able to tell a more compact and linear story. It surprised me how much different they are from each other. It was a good read and worth comparing to the movie. I grew up with The Planet of the Apes movies and loved them from the time I was a kid. I figured it was time to read the books they are based on. I really enjoyed the dynamic way that the relationships between the humans and the apes was played out. Great writing style. Lovely to listen to. It was read by Greg Wise and his voice was wonderful to listen to.
