Piggie Update 020815
Not sure when I wrote my last update, but it seems that it has been a while…
So, my kid has turned 15. How the fuck does that happen? I’m sure I’m not old enough for her to be 15 already. Sigh. Where does time go? Despite time being a bandit, I am blessed. We have a beautiful daughter that is smart, funny and has a good heart. There really isn’t much more a parent could want from a kid.
I was recently laid low with bronchitis and I am blaming that for my recent lack of posts. Yeah, I was sick! 2 weeks of fucking plague. Had to call out for 3 shifts of work and for an in-service. I really hate doing that. It is so hard for them to cover night shifts and is so important to have a nurse there. But I was really sick. I spent most of that time curled up in bed trying not to hack my lungs up onto my pillow. But I’m glad to report that I am back to feeling like a human!
Work has been about the same. Crazy, more crazy and still loving it!
Started this year’s reading challenge over at Goodreads and am already behind by 2 books. Seems like I have plenty of time to read, but always seem to be doing something else. I have a pile ready and waiting! And there are some audio books ready for me too. I’ve been listening to Running with Scissors while driving to and from work. It’s an odd one.
We’ve been sorting through our books (again, still, some more) and looking to see which series we own that aren’t complete. Putting those on shelves to make things easier to keep track of. Makes it nice when looking to shop for Valentine’s day and Eric’s B-day. Gives me a few ideas. If you’re shopping for him, there are plenty of books he is looking for and I’ll be happy to point you in the right direction; just drop me a line. And if you’re shopping for me, you should probably drop him a line. 🙂
With the new job, there was a change of medical insurance. Now that we’re on board with that we’ve had to change our providers. That has been nothing but fucking fantastic (dripping with bloody sarcasm). All three of us got changed over to the new family doctor and all seem to like her. But the pain in the ass part comes in with the specialists. I’ve gotten a new cardiologist and he seems nice enough. I have an echo cardiogram up coming since its been so long since one was done last. I have seen the neurologist and I really like her. Eric will be seeing her as well with his first appointment later this month. That just leaves me seeing the gastroentrologist. I’m not a fan of getting new doctors. You have to start from scratch and get them caught up. Doing this with everyone has been less then pleasant. I’m always sure that I am forgetting to tell them something important. You walk in and they expect to hear your whole medical life history in stunning detail and precision. Yeah…
Been playing Mine Craft like a fiend and loving it. Digital Legos 🙂 It’s nice to have at least one game that all 3 of us enjoy playing and right now this is it.
Been going over to a friend’s house every other week and role playing with the new D&D 5th edition stuff. Has been pretty similar to 3.5 and I’m not sure there are enough differences for me to feel like it really is something new. It has been nice to be role playing again. Haven’t really been doing it for a while.
PCM15 is only a few months away and I am planning to run Mouse Guard, but I haven’t heard anything from the Chair yet. So, I have no bloody idea what the plan is. Don’t think he does either. But if I’m going to run anything, it will be Mouse Guard. That being said, I really need to get off my ass and get something started towards that. Would be fun to run some play sessions of that at our house. Or I could look at our shelves and see what other system might catch my fancy, but that just isn’t as likely.
Well, I think that’s about all I’ve got for now.
