The Fall: Preface

I feel that this poem needs a bit of an explanation before you dive into it. This poem was written as a direct response to having read The English Patient. I love the book and the beautiful language that is used in telling this masterfully deep story. When I read the book, I was left thinking of the Divine, the value of war and the state of being mortal. This piece is nothing I ever plan to publish. There are bits and pieces from the English Patient woven into this poem as a dialogue with the work. Included in this dialogue are pieces from Genesis. I am sharing it simply because I hope to inspire thought in others. I encourage everyone to read this novel. It really is an incredible master piece of story telling! I am presenting this poem in two posts (three counting this one) simply due to the length of it. As always, comments and thoughts are welcome.
