Dichotomy of Heaven

Well, this one is easy enough! I have been working on a novel forever 😛 I have about 400 pages written at the moment. Here’s the plot:

Both magic and technology struggle to find their place in this world. They war with each other based upon differing opinions of faith. A crisis point has been met; the world is dying. The Gods have sent 2 avatars. One to save the world and one to slay it by killing the mother tree. These twins struggle with their own faith and relationships with the Gods. There are no bad guys, only people struggling to survive. Will the mother tree die? Or will the savior rise up to prevent her sister’s intentions? Beneath this mortal struggle lies the deeper struggle between the Gods. Do they allow the mortals to remain individuals or do they demand a return to the life stream?

I’d love comments and questions on this novel idea!

  1. divine….
Either people believe there is current or people do not believe there is current. Knowing the current is religion , knowing the use of current is science, Believing…. and not believing ………both are philosophies

All the religion which exists in the name of religion are philosophies, natural love which exists without name is religion.

Science and religion are two ends of one chain only.

    love all….

  2. Hmmm, so the main characters are the twins? Do they interact with other people, like the normal humans? How do they go about doing what they want to do (i.e., save the world or slay it)? Do they travel to the core of earth or sth? What about the Gods? Do they interact with the Twins? Are there particular gods whom each of the twins interact with?

Haha, I guess that was a few too much qns!

    • There are numerous characters that are being followed, but the bulk of the story follows the twins. They interact with normal humans in much the fashion as normal humans. In fact, one twin, Xania, denies her being an avatar. Oni tries to save the Mother Tree by way of waging war against the Tech nation which she blames for the disease. Xania struggles to be an individual and also wars against the tech nation, but in her case it is to win her freedom/safety (she is being hunted by the Techies because she is a magic user. In the end, Xania goes to the under world and slays the Mother Tree. She then takes on the mantle of Tain, becoming a god herself. Oni becomes the new Mother Tree and the cycle is renewed. The gods are very active with the twins. Xania is visited by The Goddess of Life, Tain and The Dragon of the void. Oni is visited by both Tain and the Goddess. The Goddess is pretty standard: the life stream, nature, renewal, etc. Tain is the God of the indivdual and intellect/wisdom. The Dragon of the Void id a higher spirit that desires to bring chaos and destruction into the realms.

  3. The concept is quite good but it does ring bells as the Mother tree is similar to Avatar’s sacred tree. Keep your story individual.
    Happy writing.

    • The idea of the Life Tree has been around for centuries. Long before either my story or the movie Avatar came about 😛 I draw from similar mythos as the Avatar movie did when creating the concept of the Mother Tree. So, yeah they are similar 🙂

And just a note: Here I use the word avatar by the literal defination – An aspect of a God in the mortal flesh. Jesus was an avatar, as was Krishna.
